Lasagna Fundraiser Dinner

The Lasagna Fundraiser Dinner hosted by Rex & Linda Coble on May 10th was a huge success! The money raised is for The Greyhound Wellness Program at OSU/Dr. Couto. The food was delicious and we all had a wonderful time. Hugs to the Cobles for opening up their hearts and their home once again! We also want to thank everyone who came out in support of this important cause. Please read about the program at OSU by clicking on the links provided on the Fast Blast Main Page. Thank you!

Edited by gpaw to add: While the main theme of the evening was the fundraiser, a little surprise celebration was arranged for Debbie on her ?? birthday (see Free Lance Star article for EXACT age). There was some concern about the smoke alarms going off due to the high number of candles on her cake!! Happy Birthday Deb.

May Haul

VAGA has two greyhounds coming up on May 24th. Arriving soon is: Shirley Secret and M's Foxie Susie. Both girls are sugar sweet and we can't wait to welcome them both to Virginia. Shirley Secret is being adopted by a wonderful couple who are counting down the days till they can finally meet their little girl. M's Foxie Susie will be fostered by Michelle & Mitch in the Richmond area. We have a feeling that it will not take long at all to find a nice forever home for this beauty! We will keep Pat South in our thoughts for a safe trip north.

Richmond Monthly Meet & Greet

This month's meet and greet was a greyt success! We broke a record in donations. :) It was a little damp and rainy, but the hounds were troopers. They worked the crowds and were great ambassadors for VAGA. A big greyhound thank you to the wonderful volunteers who came out to help. The hounds have their paws crossed for applications! Please join us next month for another great event.

Retired Racers Having a Fun Time

This is Chaska Dunes ( Chassie), Bb's Ashtrey ( Ashley) and JM'S Nellie May ( Nellie) playing in their new fenced yard now that they are retired from racing. Enjoy!

Sam's Club May 10th

We held our first ever Meet and Greet at Sam’s Club in Dulles, VA on Saturday, May 10th. It was a cold, damp day but our volunteers and greyhounds came out to support VAGA.
Our hounds worked very, very hard and the people that stopped to talk and visit were very generous. The donation jacket pockets were always full and our hounds turned on their charm and became wonderful ambassadors for VAGA.
Sam's Club allowed us to sell Hot Dogs and Hamburgers so our volunteers were kept very busy. We had to set up, man the grill, talk with tons of people about this great breed and then take everything down, but it was well worth the hard work! We want to thank everyone who helped VAGA with this new event and we hope you will join us again for our next Meet & Greet at this location on June 14th. We appreciate all the support Sam's Club has shown VAGA and send them our heart felt thanks!

See you all in June!!!!

Wylie Wagg Meet & Greet

We had our first Meet & Greet today at the Wylie Wagg Store in Middleburg. The greyhounds were a big hit and charmed everyone they met. Many people stopped to shower the greyhounds with pats of love and hugs. Poe, Bree and Indy enjoyed all the special attention. It was such a success that we plan on holding a M&G here once a month. Check out the VAGA calendar for future dates.

Culpeper Carwash at Walmart

We are happy to report that our 3rd Culpeper carwash was our biggest yet. This would not have been possible without the outstanding hard work of all the volunteers in attendance. The guys and gals in the pit worked non stop all day even eating lunch on the fly. The folks up front worked the dogs and the crowd. Every year it seems we do an odd vehicle or two. This year was no exception. The usual cars, vans and pick-ups rolled thru, then came the motorcycle and the Semi. But not to be outdone, the windowless pick-up.

A big thanks to everyone that pitched in, volunteers, family and friends. The work is long and hard, but even so, everyone seemed to have a good time. We'd also like to thank Walmart for letting us stage this event again this year.

Lastly, a big greyhound thanks to the Culpeper community. They come out every year and support us. Without them this would not be possible.

He asked if we could wash his truck, we said yes. Then he said, "by the way I have no side windows." We said "No Problem."
